COLOUR MILL

Colour Mill Water-Based Purple Colouring

Purple shade, 20 ml bottle for water-based mixtures

Colour Mill Water-Based Purple evokes ripe grapes and violets. This water-based food colouring is designed for water-based baking mixtures: royal icing, water-based glazes, syrups, meringues, and macarons. This shade is especially popular for royal icing on birthday cupcakes for girls with a unicorn theme, or Halloween cookies for children or teens.

Features

  • Concentrated water-based food colouring for water-based mixtures: royal icing, water-based glazes, syrups, meringues, and macarons
  • Not suitable for fat-based mixtures (chocolate, ganache, cocoa butter): water causes chocolate to seize
  • Soft 20 ml dropper bottle for precise dosing
  • Colour remains stable once the royal icing has fully dried (about 24 hours), with no change in shade
  • Gluten-free, lactose-free, egg-free, peanut-free, and soy-free

Directions for use

  • Shake the bottle before use and add to a mixture at room temperature (18 to 22°C)
  • Typical amount: 2 to 4 drops per 250 g for a pastel shade, up to 20 drops for a dark shade
  • Mix, then leave to stand for 15 minutes before adjusting the shade if needed
  • To colour chocolate or ganache, use the Colour Mill oil-based range, not this water-based colouring

Ingredients and allergens

Ingredients: Water, colours: E151, E120, emulsifiers: E433, E405, thickener: E418, preservatives: E211, E202.

Frequently asked questions

Is this colouring suitable for royal icing?

Yes, this is its main use: it is designed for water-based mixtures (royal icing, water-based glazes, syrups, meringues, and macarons) and dries without changing shade.

How many drops should I use for 250 g of mixture?

Use 2 to 4 drops for a pastel shade, 5 to 10 drops for a vivid shade, and up to 20 drops for a dark shade. It is best to add the colouring gradually.

Is it normal for separation to appear in the 20 ml bottle?

Yes, slight separation between the pigment and carrier liquid is normal after prolonged storage. Shake for 10 seconds before each use.
