Round fake cake made from high-density expanded polystyrene (EPS), 5 cm high, by FUNCAKES. This is the lowest format in the range: it serves as a presentation base, a practice support for smoothing and modeling, or a thin dummy tier to add height to a tiered cake without using multiple sponge cakes. Eight diameters to choose from, from the small 10 cm format to the extra-large 40 cm size.

Why is this format so low?
At 5 cm high, it is the thinnest format in the FUNCAKES range: it can be used as a transition tier between two taller tiers, or as a wide, flat base for a tiered candy cake.
Is the extra-large 40 cm diameter stable as a display base?
Yes, the low height combined with the large diameter provides a stable base. Place the whole assembly on a rigid cake board to distribute the weight of the added decorations.
How do I cover this dummy with fondant?
Lightly moisten the surface with a brush or edible glue, roll out the fondant to 3–4 mm, apply it, then smooth it with cake smoothers as you would on a real cake.
