Please note: polystyrene is smooth and does not hold fondant on its own. First apply a thin layer of piping gel, vegetable shortening or melted butter before placing and smoothing the fondant.

How do I choose the right diameter for my project?
A single 15 to 20 cm dummy is enough for practising techniques. For a shop-window display, choose 25 to 30 cm. For a three-tier dummy wedding cake, combine 15, 20 and 25 cm, or 10, 15, 20 and 25 cm for four tiers.
Does fondant really stay on polystyrene?
Yes, provided you apply an adhesive layer (piping gel, vegetable shortening or melted butter) between the polystyrene and the fondant. Without this step, the fondant will slide.
Can it be used for a family celebration or birthday tiered cake?
Yes, this format works equally well for wedding cakes and dummy cakes for family celebrations, birthdays or baby showers, decorated according to the chosen theme.
